Sod Calculator
Use our Sod Calculator to determine how much sod you need for your lawn project. Calculate requirements for different grass types, get cost estimates, and plan your sod installation.
How to Calculate Your Sod Needs
1. Measure Your Area
Measure the length and width of the area where you want to install sod. For irregular shapes, break the area into rectangular sections and calculate each separately.
2. Choose Your Grass Type
Select the appropriate grass type for your climate and usage. Warm-season grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia are best for southern regions, while cool-season grasses like Fescue work better in northern areas.
3. Calculate Quantities
Our calculator determines the number of sod rolls and pallets needed. Standard sod rolls are 2 feet by 5 feet (10 square feet), and pallets typically contain 450 square feet.
4. Estimate Costs
Get material and installation cost estimates based on current market prices. Costs vary by grass type, quality, and region.
