Concrete Calculator
Calculate the exact amount of concrete needed for your project, including waste allowance to ensure you order enough material.
How to Use Concrete Calculator
How It Works
This calculator uses the formula: Volume = Length x Width x Thickness. The result is automatically converted to cubic yards (the standard unit for ordering concrete) and includes your selected waste factor.
Waste Factor Guidelines
- 5%: Simple rectangular slabs, experienced contractors
- 10%: Standard recommendation for most projects
- 15%: Complex shapes, stairs, or first-time DIYers
- 20%: Very complex projects with many cuts
Concrete Properties
- Standard concrete density: ~150 lbs per cubic foot
- 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
- Typical truck capacity: 8-10 cubic yards
- Minimum order: Usually 1 cubic yard
Pro Tips
- Order slightly more than calculated - you can't add more easily
- Consider delivery time and working time (usually 90 minutes)
- Have extra help ready for large pours
- Prepare forms and reinforcement before delivery
