Concrete Slab Calculator

Range: 4" - 6" for residential slabs

Calculate concrete, reinforcement, and materials needed for concrete slabs including patios, driveways, floors, and walkways.

How to Use Concrete Slab Calculator

Slab Thickness Guidelines

  • Residential Patios: 4" minimum, 6" for heavy use
  • Driveways: 6" minimum, 8" for heavy vehicles
  • Commercial: 8" minimum, 12" for heavy traffic
  • Industrial: 12"+ for equipment and heavy loads

Reinforcement Options

  • Rebar Grid: Best for structural slabs, prevents cracking
  • Wire Mesh: Good for lighter loads, easier installation
  • Fiber: Mixed into concrete, reduces shrinkage cracks
  • None: Only for non-structural, lightly loaded areas

Preparation Steps

  1. Excavate to proper depth
  2. Install and compact gravel base (4-6")
  3. Set forms to correct height
  4. Place reinforcement (if used)
  5. Pour and level concrete
  6. Float, finish, and cure

Important Notes

  • Include control joints every 8-10 feet
  • Proper curing takes 28 days for full strength
  • Weather affects pour timing and curing
  • Consider permits for large residential slabs
  • Always check local building codes
